Trends and Disparities in Mortality in Eastern North Carolina

The Trends and Disparities reports describe 30-year trends in mortality rates for North Carolina regions. The reports describe trends in total mortality (all causes of death combined), premature mortality, and crude and age-adjusted mortality for 10 leading causes of death, as well as rates by race and gender. These reports are intended to provide policy-makers, local health departments, hospitals, and community-based health planning groups with information useful for diagnosing the health of Eastern North Carlina’s population, evaluating the effectiveness of existing services, and envisioning and planning new interventions. The reports are produced annually for the 41-county Eastern North Carolina region (counties east of I-95) and for the 29-county Northeastern region.
